Re: Lantern Chess an ICC Interface has been removed from Google play. no warning. no real idea why

I did 16 new screen shots recently, 8 for tablet and 8 for phone, and apparently the tablet console shot screen capture captured someone saying a bad word "sh*t" but without the *. I updated that screen shot and it let me republish so hoping that fixes it. Everyone knocks apple but apple would have ...

Re: Accessiblity - Play that song, The one that makes me go all night long

I have extended accessibility now with our first translation. OpeningTree is accessible in Italian https://itunes.apple.com/it/app/openingtree-chess-openings/id882614935?mt=8 My blind friend convinced me it would be more accessible if the voice over was in the language of the speakers. Hoping to do ...

Anyone know of a way to download FR fens(chess960) by FR position number?

I"m working with logging FR games, chess 960, to PGN and I thought they were cataloged by position number like this is FR position #89 of 960. Are there any official sites that keep this type of data like the fens that make up what FR boards or positions? Is this a state tracked in the FR PGN at all...

Could US Huawei ban extend to US Chess App Developers?

if the Huawei ban stands one would expect a Huawei App store. There are already other android app stores, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Android_app_stores Could a sustained US Ban on Huawei mean chess apps by Americans could not be distributed in a possible Huawei App store by Americans? I d...

Re: Sideloading on iOS now Possible

The situation may change with the current anti-trust court proceedings that Apple is facing. They may be forced to open iOS for competing stores, in which case something like F-Droid could not only allow a proper chess GUI with separate engine executables, but also full GPL compliance. After hearin...

Re: Sideloading on iOS now Possible

I dont know if you're a millennial or gen-z but i feel i get static with the younger generation on talkchess. Yea it's possible to develop for ios without great difficulty beyond 99 a year. Though you can side load on your own device for free. Android is no walk in the park. Any development is a so...

Re: Sideloading on iOS now Possible

I'm certainly not a millennial. Would be nice to shave off 10-20 years though. Ok, so you can test iOS apps now on your device without dev account. That's certainly nice. But if you want to go to AppStore/do AdHoc distribution, you'll still need the dev account if I'm not mistaken. The point of thi...

I also forgot the pain to generate zillions of icon sizes for various devices, I guess automatic image resampling would be too much to ask.
You can find web sites that can take one 1024 - 1024 icon image and give you all the icon sizes you need for both iOS and Android.
