Re: Crazyhouse castling rules

my understanding is that the rook and king must not move to be able to castle. if the rook leaves that square the rights to that side castle are gone. Dropping it there to me seems no different than simply moving it back there with a regular move. So i have programmed my pulsar chess engine which pl...

Mac Software no longer working on latest Mac Update Catalina

As some know the latest Mac OS update Catalina or 10.15 no longer supports 32 bit programs. The popular ICC for Mac on chessclub.com that comes with built in Stockfish no longer works as of now. I've contacted chessclub and have not heard back yet so not sure on long term prognosis. Lantern Chess co...

Are there any major Android Apps that support Winboard Protocol Engines?

I've been getting some criticism in reviews that my Pulsar Chess engine on android, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lantern.michaeladams.pulsarchessengine&hl=en_US , is not also a stand alone and can't for example be run in DroidFish. I'm now trying to explain it's not a UCI engine...

Looking for Chess for Android on Amazon - dgt support on kindle fires

I was chatting with someone who could not get his DGT board to work on Chessclub via its ICC for windows or Blitzin He did get it to work on chessbase. Now i know there are different brands now so i recommended chess for android as it supports multiple DGT boards and connects to chessclub. But he is...

Re: Why are chess computers no longer important?

Phones are better But they have no chess board In the 80s and 90s I had a sensory chess board computer fidelity excellence. In 2008 I talked to a friend about what it takes to make an electronic chess computer program for my chess program I had made, Pulsar. Basically he said(he has an Electrical e...

Re: Accessiblity - Play that song, The one that makes me go all night long

Stefano writes me: Hi Mike, Here’s a draft of what I would send to the blind players, in mailing lists attended by british and irish players, indian, french, spanish and south and north american players. And he reiterates i spread the word of accessibility on talkchess.com I'm writing this email bec...

Fathers and Chess – “How am I suppose to do computer chess?”

Last night I dreamed I got into a squabble with my dad or he cut me off. I protested, I had been coming over to his computer to do minor things I needed to do to do computer chess, so I said after he said don't come here any more “How am I suppose to do computer chess?” It reminded me of my dad of 9...

Re: Why there is no interest in Computer with odds Vs Humans match?

Another problem with odds games is standard chess programs like Stockfish are not typically optimized to play them. The Alpha Beta search wants to find the best move and if that is trading queens it will do it in a heart beat. But the odds player usually uses some non best move intelligence like i n...

Re: Chess Analysis, Linux and Python

There is always XBoard on linux. Also my lantern chess at lanternchess.com is a chessclub interface but the analysis and pgn loading abilities are available on the free guest connection and the opening book. Its java and we have a few linux users some who compile from source code.

Re: Python Easy Chess GUI

I don't really compile programs on here or the winboard forum to run. Is there a mac version ready to run by clicking or right click open with or a simple command line to start it in terminal?
