Re: Yes, well done Uri!!

Thanks to you and Jorge. 1)I did not implement material imbalance table in the evaluation. 2)I use R=3 for null move reduction except not using null move when the remaining depth is 1 because I use different pruning. 3)I do not use double null move but I use verified null move pruning in the endgam...

Re: Yes, well done Uri!!

Congratulations Uri!! Amazing improvement from where Movei started. Soon you will need to call it "Movka"... :D If you would be so kind, what do you think has contributed most to Movei's improvement over the last year? Have you implemented material imbalance tables in your evaluation? Are you using ...

Re: relot for GradualTest

Hi David,

Where did you find GradualTest v 2.6? The version on Odd Gunnar Malin's site is 2.4 (and the source is v2.0)

v2.6 has an additional /u switch which I assume is UCI engine support.

If its not available for download would you email it to me?

Thanks!

Ross

Re: Who do you think will win the 1st Division of the WBEC ?

Hi Uri, Its good to see Movei constantly improving. You've done amazingly well considering you've only been programming for a few years now. TRACE 137 made it to 1st Division - but its true what you say... no upgrade... and therefore - no chance... BTW, TRACE 2 (rewrite) is improving rapidly and is ...

Re: Evaluation of material imbalance (a Rybka secret?)

Hi Alessandro, Nice work! I'm attempting to do a similar thing in TRACE 2. So far I have the internal structure in place which I call MIM... Material Imbalance Matrix. It is basically an array indexed by the number of pieces of each type and colour. The array covers all the usual combinations of pie...

Re: My new testing scheme

Absolutely the worst scenario is not having the ability to retreat completely when a promising idea turns out bad.... and that happens very frequently. Indeed! How do you handle the case where you are working on a particular change (implementing/testing a new idea) which might take months and at th...

Re: My new testing scheme

For a while I used CVS. But I find it easier to just have a script that zips all the program code and test results together and saves it by date. So I build a version, zip it, run tests/matches, update the zip with the results. If I determine that it sucks, I can revert to an older zipped version e...

Re: Is there a convincing solution for Quick.13?

Bxg6 fxg6 Strange move to say the least. Whoops! Well spotted. That was the EPD for Quicktest 11 ... by mistake.... and I'd say Bob copied the EPD string from my post. Sorry Bob. Double whoops! Nevertheless... here is the correct position with evaluation from TRACE 2 on a Q6600 (using 1 thre...
