Re: Introducing Igel engine

Hello Wolfgang, Adjudication rules: - adjudicate game as lost when both (!) engines show -999 centipawns for 5 moves I think the adjudication of 999 cp is the trick that causes the games to end smoothly on your side. When I fixed the bug yesterday, I realized it was in a very specific condition: 1....

Re: Introducing Igel 0.8 engine

Hey Volodymyr, as suggested: http://www.talkchess.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=72613&start=120#p836205 I'll continue here :) Overnight 35 (only) games were played without any time forfeit! :D Conditions are: Intel i7 - 2600 @ 3,4 GHZ 8 GB RAM / 512 MB Hash each engine 1 Core (this list is singleco...

Re: New engine releases 2020

Thanks very much.
I'll integrate it in my current tournament and report. May take 2 or 3 days to get a considerable number of games

Re: New engine releases 2020

I've run some ponder tests Wolfgang, https://i.paste.pics/0a5aa357cd99917740aa2bff162aa6ee.png As you can see, Igel is loosing on time just like Vivien said. Basically Igel looses all games against weaker components (Topple is 125 elo weaker). I am not conformable making a ponder release with this ...

Re: New engine releases 2020

.... I think it was igel-220 under cutechess. When end-game is near, Igel starts to use too much time, and eventually lost on time. Ok, I have neither experience with this version nor with cutechess. Maybe the (very) small bonus of 0,5 seconds causes problems?! Our list I refer too is played with 3...

Re: New engine releases 2020

Don't worry Wolfgang, I will add ponder back very soon. I did not expect so much interest from people in Igel and especially in ponder mode :) :D I am currently considering either to publish a 2.4.1 (soon) with ponder as it is or wait a couple of weeks and add some elo and add ponder. First alterna...

Re: New engine releases 2020

Thanks, but there is nothing wrong with Ponder in Igel or positive spoken: Ponder works fine with Igel... :D Additionally I started a testmatch with 2.3.1 under Arena 3.5.1. Of course I cannot watch and check every game but every time I came to the computer and watched for a while, it was all fine. ...

Re: New engine releases 2020

Hello Wolfgang, .... I remember xr_a_y telling me that ponder was not working well in Igel, in his test Igel lost all games to Minic but one, so I decided to disable the ponder support until I figure out what is wrong. http://www.cegt.net/5Plus3Rating/BestVersionsNEW/51.html I don't know, what xr_a...

What's new: - Implement singlular extensions - Detect drop of score and using time more aggressively - Remove IID and simplify search...

If someone wanted to make live on a dead open source engine, it would be easier to take Laser and build on it. Source in english and stronger.
I don't think that Laser is dead/abandoned. A beta is actually playing @ TCEC
