Re: 85th Amateur Series Division 4

For next release I'll have core2 = SSE3, NO POPCNT nehalem = SSE4.2, POPCNT sandy-bridge = AVX, POPCNT skylake = AVX2, POPCNT, BMI2 POPCNT affects many bitboard stuff of course, BMI2 affects "magics", and vectorisation affects NNUE. I once posted that (http://talkchess.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t...

I used the core2 exe for this tournament. (Windows 7 64-bit) For sure this is why it is both slow and a bit weak. I probably shall release more exe so that better perf are available on a wider range of cpu. What is a exact model of your current cpu please ? You'd be best doing what others do - a no...

Re: 85th Amateur Series Division 4

Thanks a lot for the tourney Graham. I'm still a be confused with Minic's not so good results on the CCRL 40/40 list especially with NNUE such as this 3.04 with noisy notch. I convinced myself that this is linked with using NNUE without AVX2 hardware. Can you post more spec on the "i5 quad you are r...

Re: Great Queen Sac by GM Lasker against George Thomas?

Somehow this is easy for engines even with the required queen sac. But still a great great position ! very instructive Minic's output (HCE), depth 22, 0.54s info depth 22 score mate 7 time 542 nodes 639557 nps 1179994 seldepth 26 tbhits 0 pv h5h7 g8h7 e4f6 h7h6 e5g4 h6g5 h2h4 g5f4 g2g3 f4f3 e1g1 g7f...

Minic game at TCEC

In the game (https://tcec-chess.com/#div=sw1&game=366&season=20), Minic won versus Xiphos, in a game where 14. g4 seems to be the key before tripling on the king side and then switching to queen side to sac the exchange of the bishop to create a passed pawn. What do you think of this move ? [Event "...

Re: A bomb ... I try to understand a long time, a Dragon move vs. Wasp!

As a human, this move seems complex indeed, but for any engine I guess, this is quite easy. Minic + noisy notch get that at depth 9 ! info string This is Minic version 3.05 (NNUE available) info string Info 2021-03-20 19:43:31-806: Loading NNUE net ../../../NNUE-Nets/noisy_notch.bin info depth 1 sco...

Re: fun mates again

Just see this position in a real game

[d] r2qr1k1/pp4bp/8/3pP2p/6b1/1P1B4/PBPPQ3/2K3RR w - - 0 19

#11 it seems, will your engine find it ?
