Computer Chess and Capitalism

I still find Chessmaster the most beautiful interface, easier on the eye and less cluttered than anything released since. So I want to keep using it, and I want to watch matches between good engines on it. I've successfully imported Greko into Chessmaster 10, and the games are great, as Greko is ar...

Re: Rodent IV beta

I do have one setting for stockfish 5 (Fury) that not only plays what seems to be an interesting, game but has some decent results, scoring 4 - 0 against Sting 10. Oh, hey, would you mind sharing? It's weird for me to say that something was the most stylistic engine from Glaurung codebase when I di...

Re: Father versus Deepblue in the ocean. September 04/2019.. Open letter to Garry Kasparov

I was a HUGE fan of his chess in my teens when he was active - but outside of chess, there seems to be no virtue I can see. Um, I had the impression that Magnus Carlsen couldn't have been the #1 player in the world for so long without Kasparov's help ? So a virtue could have been being a good mento...

Re: Father versus Deepblue in the ocean. September 04/2019.. Open letter to Garry Kasparov

the always great and virtuous Garry Kasparov, who was then a victim of ambush. What makes Kasparov virtuous besides the hard work he put into his chess? As a person, he is narracistic, mean-spirited and politically disingenuous. I was a HUGE fan of his chess in my teens when he was active - but out...

Re: Father versus Deepblue in the ocean. September 04/2019.. Open letter to Garry Kasparov

Deep Blues 'Famous move 8. Nxe6 !!' Shook Kasparov to the Core...Unnerved he lost quickly in only 19 moves! 8.Nxe6 was in DB's opening book, so I wouldn't give it !! - since the move wasn't stumbled upon by the computer independently. Even Kasparov was aware of this move, and in fact, it is not win...

Re: Slow Chess Blitz Classic

Seems really strong and really positional in playing style...reminds me of Schooner's return actually. :) I was right. This engine just comprehensively outplayed both Deep Junior 11.2 and Fizbo 1.3.1. I'd say it's somewhere around 2900 CCRL just from first impressions of its play. Nice work to add ...

Re: Slow Chess Blitz Classic

After a 14-year hiatus, there is a new version of Slow Chess Blitz. Slow Chess Blitz Classic should be better all-around than WV2.1. It searches a couple ply deeper on average, and often but not always finds checkmates much sooner. (It is 64-bit only now.) Page w/ download : https://www.3dkingdoms....

The 2 big R's in computer chess: Rodent and Rebel! Thanks Pawel for the one of them!
+1 My favorite two engines, actually - forget Elo.
