Re: Mate in ??

Maybe Houdini 6 with Nalimov 6 is able to reach mate score with good accuracy. I have Nalimov 6 on external drive as backup. But i find it cumbersome to have to remove half of the selected syzygy 7 files on my 2 TB M.2 just to check for this one. I i'm planning to purchase another SSD solely for Nal...

Re: Nibbler Lc0 GUI - updates

I tried including this code

Code: Select all

"options": {
		"Backend": "roundrobin",
		"BackendOptions": "(backend=cudnn-fp16,gpu=0),(backend=cudnn-fp16,gpu=1)",
		"Threads": 3,
		},
Doesn't seem to work.

Complicated endgame skirmish

Black is certainly for preference here, though winning would not be straightforward, given his wrecked pawn structure and exposed king.

Re: Tal's bold and reckless 16. Nd5

Kasparov writes: "An extremely risky and, apparently, even a losing move. "The auditorium went still: what was this - ultra-boldness, recklessness? No one found an answer to these questions, it was simply not possible. My Great Predecessors part II 2003. Garry intuitively claimed it was losing 17 ye...

Stockfish NNUE show winning +2/+3 in this line. But regular stockfish only show something like +1.4ish Black trump card is the pawn majority on the kingside. 3r2k1/5p1p/p2P2p1/1q2p1b1/1p2B3/7Q/PPP4P/1K1R4 w - - 0 29 [Event "Tal - Larsen Candidates Semifinal"] [Site "Bled YUG"] [Date "1965.08.08"] [R...

Re: Banksia GUI released

Regarding the discussion about syzygy paths and adjudication. Syzygy path for engines: files should be on SSD. Storing full 7-piece on SSD is not feasible, unless very big wallet. syzygy adjudication path: a good argument for a own path is that many is willing to go for 7-piece adjudication. 7-piece...

Re: Banksia GUI released

I was thinking about something like this may be a neat solution. "Syzygy engine path" and "Syzygy adjudication path" is probably fine. Tooltip ideas: It is recommended to store syzygy egtb on a fast SSD. As adjudication only need single probe at root position. HDD/Mechanical hard drive is sufficien...
