Re: Houdini 1.5 from 2011 has a surprise
Houdini 1.5a x64 (c) 2010-11 Robert Houdart info string POPCNT available info string 128 MB Large Page Hash :) Stockfish got them 2020. BTW has Komodo Large Pages? No, Komodo does not support large pages. It is trivial to add, but requires users to act as administrators to set up the pages, and aft...

Re: Dragon versus Nakamura
Nakamura psyched himself out. I don't think he realized he was playing the MCTS version. I mentioned we used MCTS mode in the chess.com chat along the side of the game board. He speculated there was a more aggressive setting. The only change was MCTS mode. In both regular and MCTS mode we used a lo...

Re: Dragon versus Nakamura
Based on what I saw in the endgame dragon gave an easy draw to Nakamura. I do not think it had to go to tablebases positions with a pawn down and there are better practical chances if not all the draws are evaluated the same. I do NOT understand why Komodo Dragon has to use tablebases against a Hum...

Re: Dragon vs GM Nakamura Analog Handicap Match
What I've consistently observed is that humans always do better taking handicaps from top engines than similarly rated engines do. Maybe it's because they have a better understanding of simplifying when ahead, or just that they know to respect the opponent and avoid anything unclear. I have been se...

Re: Dragon by Komodo Chess
Hi Larry, Is there any chance of NNUE specialized for losing positions for use in handicap matches? We actually did include some such positions in the training which might help a bit in such matches, probably not a lot though. The problem is that if the handicap is high enough to give humans a good...

Computer Chess Jobs at Chess.com
As you know, Komodo joined Chess.com a few years back and we have really enjoyed being a part of the team there. They have been helpful with resources, support, and in developing the new Dragon! Anyway, they are currently hiring for some positions that might interest those of you here on talkchess. ...

Re: Dragon by Komodo Chess
Hi Larry Slightly puzzled that the macOS and Windows versions, using Dragon NNUE eval and MCTS, output different evaluations when single threaded. The Mac is running a Xeon W and the Windows machine an AMD 2700X. I used the non-AVX2 binary for both the below printouts but it makes no difference - s...

Re: Komodo 14.1 Release and Dragon Announcement
A few questions for the gentlemen of Komodo. 1. I understand that NNUE has a Dragon engine in it. 2. How to disable the option NNUE. 3. Where to download others NNUE. Dragon by Komodo Chess has a NNUE evaluation (not a full NNUE engine) in it. You can disable the NNUE evaluation by setting "Use Reg...

Re: Komodo 14.1 Release and Dragon Announcement
I see the new engine is called Dragon by Komodo Chess but no version number is given. How are we to distinguish it from future versions? We went with no version number for the original release (as many programs and movies do, like "Back to the Future"). Future versions will have version numbers. Yo...
