I've been reluctant to post in threads about Leela or Komodo MCTS because, frankly, I don't have a good conceptual understanding of how these engines work. I hate to publicly display my limitations, but here goes... Last night, just for kicks, I watched Komodo 13.02 MCTS play a series of games again...

I couldn't get Komodo 11.2.2 to solve this mate at all. But Komodo 4 solves it in under 3 minutes.

Deep HIARCS 14 announces the mate either instantly or in a few seconds.

Arena can use Gaviota TB's for adjudication. This is handy if you enjoy engine vs. engine matches. Houdini 1.5a -- the only free Houdini -- supports Gaviota only. The Nalimov TB's are still used by some engines, e.g. Hiarcs and Crafty. So I suggest getting them all. If that's not an option, go with ...

Chess Partner 6

Chess Partner 6 by Lokasoft was announced 10 years ago, today. Who would have guessed that version 6 would be the last major release? (The Windows Store "Version 8" freebie doesn't count.) CP was my preferred GUI for years. Here's wishing Lex will, at some point, resume development of this great GUI.
