Re: Rybka vs Fat Fritz controversies

I think for a while, everyone thought that chess engine progress will improve ... but it will improve mostly due to the improvement in hardware running bean counter engines. Rybka changed that thinking and it made clear that the software side of chess engines is where the major gain in ELO would com...

Re: Rybka vs Fat Fritz controversies

Totally different things. Vas is probably the most wronged person in computer chess and also is one of the star people that really pushed the limits to chess engine development at a time everyone thought stagnation was inevitable and chess engine strength was reaching its limits. I still remember th...

Re: Stockfish 13 merged on github

Is it difficult to implement something in the engine install that would check your CPU and then automatically choose the best executable for your CPU? I guess if it was easy this would have been done before, but...

Re: chess.com personality bots research

QUESTIONS: To chess players: Now due to the lack of understanding regarding the last point I'd like to ask chess players whether you enjoy playing versus bots in general and chess.com bots in particular or not. The reason behind why I ask that is simple - I'm now thinking about possible adding of p...

Re: Fat Fritz 2

I don't see the negativity about this new development. Why is it so bad that someone can make money on computer chess?? Someone has spent many hours working on something that has improved SF 12, and wants some financial compensation for the time and effort spent. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me an...

Re: NNs seem to solve the Gusev Qxe5!! easily.

Actually not only is the rook trapped and black basically playing without a rook, but the king is also in a choke hold and queen is totally immobilized due to the instant mate threat. The black rook is also easily tied down with the white bishop as there is discovered check on that diagonal. You wou...
