Re: Did anyone write a xiangqi chess engine?

I wish I could have some Arena equivalent for xiangqi, preferably under linux. Do you know any xiangqi GUIs like that? There is a pending PR by gaintpd for Xiangqi support in cutechess github repo. https://github.com/gaintpd/cutechess/tree/xiangqi https://github.com/cutechess/cutechess/pull/565 The...

Re: Did anyone write a xiangqi chess engine?

https://github.com/ianfab/Fairy-Stockfish supports Xiangqi (and countless other variants as well). You can play it online on https://www.pychess.org/ There is Xiangqi Discord server where you can find resources and players also https://discord.gg/Q6ZCVer3 The best English Xiangqi portal is http://ww...

Sure, you can have your opinion. But at the end of the day Marco Costalba decides :)
I guess you are wrong.
Sure. You can substitute current maintainers

Re: Position Causes Stockfish and Komodo To Crash

The GUI writers will tell you it is the responsibility of the engine or the user to detect bad data. I consider myself a GUI writer. UCI spec is clear enough here I think. In https://www.pychess.org/editor/chess the user input is the position they construct. I never thought it is not my responsibil...

Re: Position Causes Stockfish and Komodo To Crash

There are lots of things that will make SF coredump if the position has an error in it. I reported some to fishcooking and the response was: "Don't input bad positions." Of course, when you collect positions from the internet, you will collect thousands of bad positions. Nothing like finding 3.5 TB...

Re: Chess variants made with help from alpha zero article

As a lover of chess variants myself, I greatly enjoyed this paper. The selection of variants is not exactly the one I would have made, but they do all have the advantage of being playable with a normal chess set: No fairy pieces or differently shaped boards are required. My favorite of those varian...

Re: PGN standard

Years ago Tord Romstad suggested to create a PGN replacement format in https://www.reddit.com/r/chess/comments ... gn_format/
Does anyone know was it evolved to something concrete?

Re: Carlsen is leading the Online Invitation LIVE

May I ask mods to move this to other forum, please? It is related to COMPUTER chess because it's the first time in history where such a tournament happens online and people had to use COMPUTERS to connect to a server and play each other. This had no precedent as before you'd attend the events in pe...
