Re: Stockfish licensing question

You can definitely probe here for the sentiment of potential customers. But best is, to consult a lawyer, should cost no more than 100-200€. In any case, you should read the damned license, did you do that? Read the definitions section. I mean, if your stockfish 11 (why 11 and not 13 btw?) sits on y...

Re: Tinkering with stockfish code: C++ question

Actually the dependencies might be ok, they are generated automagically by the compiler and then put into hidden .d files. I think the real problem is, that make makes it very uncomfy to work with several different binary versions. Hence the stockfish make file simply bangs out all object files into...

Re: Free text viewer with navigation pane

You are asking that in a coders forum. Do you need that to navigate source code? If so, there are better tools, e.g. https://www.sourcetrail.com/ (open source) or https://about.sourcegraph.com/pricing (free license).

Re: stockfish freezes chessbase

First you should check, if you are not overcommiting your machine. Check the thread size for your stockfish for plausibility. There is also currently a problem with stockfish, when some thread detects a mate. If that happens, that thread cannot continue, but it cannot "wait" also, because of a curre...

Re: Find optimal opening vs opponents standard setup

A chess player would simply ask: What to play against the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippopotamus_Defence ? And when he would sit down quietly one weekend to figure out something, with the help of his engine. Also he may tell, that you can only ponder broadly about openings at a verly early stage...

Re: 256 in NNUE?

... Can we reduce the number of hidden layer neurons from say 256 to 128, and it will reduce the size of the weights to int8? ... The number of weights tells you something about the dimension of your problem, the size of ints something about your precision . Obviously there is no correspondence bet...

Re: Game 6 B. Fischer vs B. Spassky 1972

Hello, Does anyone know if there is already a published extensive analysis of this game with recent chess engines ? I was quickly analyzing the moves of this game with last dev stockfish and i was amazed by how Bobby Fischer was nearly playing at nowadays Stockfish level ! Many moves of Fischer are...

Re: Stockfish default bench can be easily improved

You are giving more hash memory, so it should be faster, but i believe this is not of concern to them. A question which is _really_ of concern to them could be: What testing parameters should i choose, to test a none functional changed version of one stockfish version against an older version, to re...
