Re: New tool for studying chess ebooks on Android phone/tabl

On my htc desire the free version's ads are going in the "books" area.
Also, I think that the book could be a little bigger.
Else than that, its a great thing !!

Re: Which 2 engines would you like to see tested next?

Actually, I'm not really look THAT much forward to the above named engines (shredder, hiarcs, Houdini 3 rybka 5 etc.) What I would like to see is engines with an AMAZING style, i.e. i love vitruvius because of its style. Unfortunately, i dont know many engines with this style, thinker 5.3 would be a...

Re: An experimental draw recognizer function

Ethan, where you want to apply your code, in root of search or something? and with 'endgame' you mean, getting to the position with the same material and pawn structure? I dont think it's a good idea to use it at root, because it does not matter if it is drawn or won right now, you just have to pla...

An experimental draw recognizer function

Hi When I was walking around, i got this idea for engines to better recognise whether or not a position is draw due to the 50 move rule. The idea is based on the fact that if you cant get a better position/win material et cetera within 50 moves, the game is a draw. Here it is in pseudo-code (in the ...

Re: Is Smith Morra gambit sound?

I know this sounds crazy, but I used to play the gambit as white when I was Is a dynamic opening, if Black makes a mistake, likely to pay a very high price... Black has to play with precision and energy, or risks of falling into a nightmare. To me, it happened! :D Thats why i will play it, since my...

Re: Is Smith Morra gambit sound?

By now, I think I got the courage to play it against the next opponent who plays the sicilian against me in the tournament im in (rated, 1h15min for 40 moves + 30 minutes for rest)
I normally play the grand prix attack, so I think this is better.

Engine Aggressiveness

Hi I have some questions about engine aggressiveness: When you put a lot of positional information in an engines, then shouldn't it play more aggressively and sacrifice more because it knows that it can get compensation? If above is true, then why is there some engines with lots of positional knowle...
