Re: Experience.bin for Shashchess
I saw a utility to do that once, but it did not work on the files I tried because the format changed. On the other hand, the format of the data is extremely simple so it should be really easy to write a tool to merge them. My personal preference would be to simply keep the deepest data and overwrite...

Re: Can any engine find the winning move here ?
I agree with Mike. We do not have to agree with a poster. And provocative posts can be interesting. Some posts can be annoying. But a post should never be censored for being annoying, not matter how annoying. That is a sign that it is causing us to think. Sure, there are purely vacuous posts. But ar...

Re: The mailbox trials
This stuff is really interesting. I do have one request: Post each incremental update of the generator after each change. Then (being lazy, as I am) I can do diffs and consider those when I read your posts. BTW, the most interesting sequence in years. I do hope it somehow makes it to the chess progr...

Experience.bin for Shashchess
https://drive.google.com/file/d/11RuFBvCmZBCzY2ZKqoHctcOcGvu9QMnw/view?usp=sharing I analyzed 12,000 really important positions (the most commonly played positions), and 1000 useless ones (named openings that are rarely or never played). Depth is generally in the 36 to 60 ply range, with the average...

Re: Attachment
It simply does not work any more.
I usually save the object to google share or OneDrive or some other publicly viewable object store and then post a link.
Sometimes, I post a message with an attachment in the Rybka forum and post a link to it here.
In any case, you are right. Attachments don't work.

Re: Can somebody compare the AMD Ryzen processors to the intel processors
Mike B: Mike, I was looking in my Engine Personality for SF 260221 in Aquarium running on dual Xeon system, and I did not see Large Pages options. Does that mean that Large Pages option would come up only on an AMD system? You have to enable large pages. There is information on this page about how ...

Re: Future progress of chess software in chess
There are wins in correspondence chess, and everyone is using Stockfish and other strong engines to help with the analysis. There are also losses, and a large number of draws. What part of the losses and draws is the influence of humans? It is hard to say. I think that very strong humans can add mor...
