Re: Vachier-Lagrave - Naiditsch, GRENKE 2019 R3 : 25.Nf6+ !

Thanks Louis, I can't really test that without tablebases on my computer :) I would have thought that Vincent always tests with TB loaded though. But maybe it is just that Stockfish at that time saw things differently. And Dann also quickly saw 0.00 scores. For OTB play still a good move though and ...

This is still (a) Kaissa IV but much closer to Stockfish than the above so less bugs than in that version. I think it is a draw but enough chances to go wrong because of the singular p...

Re: Drawish endgame

Yes, you are probably right. In the position at the end of Vincent's PV Black has a Knight against a passed pawn, but they seem to keep each other in equilibrium 8/2n2pp1/2K1k2p/3n4/6P1/P4P2/7P/4B3 w - - Engine: Kaissa IV NoContempt (512 MB) by T. Re: Drawish endgame

I have one deep search with a somewhat rising score, so I think it is promising. But Stockfish probably should have a better kingwalk score or something. I did not get the high score at the end of your PV for some reason, maybe because I had no tablebases, but I get much more drawish score, could be...

Re: A little more B30 Sicilian

Hi Stephen! Nice to see you posting here again! I think you are probably right, something along those lines like what Bent Larsen wrote and Stockfish not seeing the extra compensation, developmentwise probably. (I was watching The Apartment, nice 1960 comedy with Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine, an...

Re: First ply of a big fail high. But it's looking grim for white

Thanks Jean Paul, interesting that this was actually a game. I think they may have used computers but not always typical computer moves, or at least not always what Stockfish would have played. But I only did a quick blundercheck. Then again, I don't know because a Savo Scanto on ICCF only is rated ...

Re: A little more B30 Sicilian

At depth 42 and the situation has not really changed. So even with depth to compensate for any gaps there might be in the positional evaluation of openings, still Stock does not like 3. d4 It is barely in seventh place again. No, eighth now, 3. a3 is now also better  I do not like 3. Bb5 too m...

A little more B30 Sicilian

In relation to Ed's post, Stockfish really does not think much of standard opening theory here. 3. d4 gets close to a negative eval, even when using no contempt in UCI options. r1bqkbnr/pp1ppppp/2n5/2p5/4P3/5N2/PPPP1PPP/RNBQKB1R w KQkq - Engine: Kaissa IV NoContempt (512 MB) by T. Re: First ply of a big fail high. But it's looking grim for white

Hoi Jean Paul, Yes you are correct on all counts :) This just the standard output of Shredder GUI. The last number is not really giving much information as it is just nodes per second on my machine, using one thread. Yes, not one PV possible, but many moves, all with a good score but none showing re...
