Re: CountryChess 02: France, premier division

It is a very nice idea. Just a question : I wonder if you intend to have lower divisions (for France) where my engine could participate?
Thanks

Re: The grand unified rating list November 2012

Thank you for the list Vincent! One thing I'am dreaming on is the unification of different Elo lists: - dedicated computers - human - "PC" chess programs the first 2 in the list are said consistent, but it seems there is a gap between dedicated and PC chess programs (the reference is not the same) Y...

Re: building a good test suite to predict the rating of engi

Thank you. I have verified your test suite positions up to number 40 included. Below are the corrected fen positions. Only 3 positions were buggy compared to the diagrams. I like your test positions; you are right some of them could be in the STS, since they are pure positional and could help to tun...

Re: building a good test suite to predict the rating of engi

I'm interested but the link seems broken. Best regards Yves It worked a few days ago, but it has been closed as I have missed a bill I should pay. I hope it will be running soon! The link is OK again. Thank you! The machines tested were between 1500 and 2100 elo; would you say that your test may be...

Re: Your best bug ?

I have no razoring or futility pruning, but I'm doing static pruning with the full Eval near the leaves. Thus my programme has no problem with this position which is recognized as a draw. Maybe I'm lucky. I don't use TT. NullMove is disabled in this late ending.

Re: Your best bug ?

At the beginning I was passing Alpha and Beta byref. The search was almost unstable and not reliable.

Re: large king safety scores

I can't say is my king safety is efficient. The parameters are not tuned. Maybe it make the programme weaker presently. I should put parameter tuning on my to-do list.

Re: large king safety scores

I think that side to move bonus should be related to the number of pieces which can be added quickly to the attack. But how to measure it? Is it worth coding?

Re: Aspiration Windows: Rubbish!

Aspiration windows never worked for me since my search is unstable (due to different heavy pruning). For some positions it is a win, for some others it is not interesting. So i don't use it until my search will become stable
