Database recommendation for Macintosh?
Hello, I've begun teaching chess online and one of my students uses a Macintosh. I want him to get used to entering his games into a database, comment on his games and at the very end use engines to check his analysis. Chess X looks like a good starting point. Are there any Mac native freeware chess...

Natural language analysis?
Hello, I would like to learn if there are GUIs that provide analysis of a game in natural language such as Fritz has. I had Fritz 5.32 which had this version but want to improve the engine. Has Fritz's feature improved in the quality of the language? If so does it matter which Chessbase program I bu...

Re: apple chess for imac g4
Chessmaster 9000, Sigmachess and Macchess are the ones that came to my mind first. I think Hiarcs requires Mac OS X 10.7 as minimum. http://www.hiarcs.com/mac-chess-explorer.htm Shredder needs 10.8 as minimum. https://www.shredderchess.com/chess-software/macintosh.html Then there is the Stockfish: h...

Junior 4.6?
Hello,
I need this engine for an old computer of mine. I bought the Junior 5 on e-bay believing that this 16-bit engine was in it as mentioned on reviews. It is not in the CD. Was it ever sold as a seperate CD?
Thank you for your time,

16-bit CB native engines?
Hi,
I'm looking for an 16-bit Chessbase engine to use with Chessbase Light (based on 6). The latest 16-bit engines I know are:
Fritz 5
Hiarcs 6 (7 was DOS/Mac hybrid and not an engine IIRC)
Junior 4.6
Nimzo 99 (?)
Shredder 5 (?)
Do I remember correctly?

Re: top-5000.nl will disappear in the near future
Thank you for the warning. I downloaded old Rebels again just to be on the safe side but I think it would be nice to keep them at www.rebel13.nl in additon to historic games and downloadable programs for history's sake.
Thank you very much,

Re: Lucas Chess
It is a great program that I recommend to my students. However entering a game as pgn and commenting is not very intuitive. One stop for everything related to chess.

Re: Stockfish 7
Usually the official Stockfish is faster than the corresponding dev Stockfish. I thought it was the other way around; mainly that the official Stockfish is more stable and the development versions are the ones where "what if" lines of thought are exercised. Of course by faster you mean nps, than I ...

Chess on wristwatch?
Hello, I used to have a Fossil Palm PDA watch about a decade ago and loved it. I could play chess on it but the battery was a big problem. Now there is Apple's iwatch and Android Wear watches. From what I have read they seem to be more like a companion to cell phone rather than a system on their own...
