Re: FCP Tourney-2021 in preparation ... different questions!

Hi there, in the next two weeks I will work on a new *.html page for engine configurations. Screens from UCI settings and a table with main settings can be interesting for programmers. Much more easy to compare the settings from 41 programs + the programs will be play the Qualify tourney. So program...

Re: FCP Tourney-2021 in preparation ... different questions!

Hi there, Klaus and myself are thinking about more changes for the main tournament configuration. FCP Tourney-2020 = 50 rounds with 41.000 games and 20 minutes for the game + 5 seconds Fischer for a move / runtime = around 5 months (around 280 games per day), 820 games per round need around 3 days. ...

Re: FCP Tourney-2020: 41.000 games 20+5 to play on Intel i9-10900k

Hi there, a lot of Excel statistics are available to the still running FCP Tourney-2020. On the detail page you can jump to all information around the tourney! Two important downloads: 1. My files, games / stats (after 1.600 of 2.000 games = 80%, around 150Mb). 2. Excel files by Klaus Wlotzka (round...

Re: FCP Tourney-2020: 41.000 games 20+5 to play on Intel i9-10900k

Hi there,

now the results from round 40/50 are available.

New material in Excel files by Klaus Wlotzka are added.

How many games for +- Elo, calculated with our tournament rules and 41 participate engines (each one against ech others). I think nothing is new but interesting to study.

Best

Re: A better rating method ?

The only way in times strongest chess programs are to strong in "transposition into endgames" ... what I wrote before! The engine differents in the first two playing phases are most interesting today. Here all the available stronger chess programs produced really bigger differents. Most have to do w...

Re: A better rating method ?

Hint: Komodo 14 is around 10 Elo stronger in endgames like Stockfish 12 NNUE. Congratulation, Komodo 14.0 in pure endgame is really strong and since a long time the number 1. You can see ... I am looking with other eyes! For the others: Easy to see that: Step 1: Search the games with 100-299 moves. ...

Re: A better rating method ?

Hi Larry, that is an idea, indeed! For computer chess ratings I think it's better to build four for the first time and from this four later one: Ratings for the earlier and late middlegams, ratings for transposition into endgame, ratings for endgames. Then we give the four ratings a better weight. T...

Re: A better rating method ?

Chess program testing around the years 1998 - 2004 are most interesting, because most of chess programs have not the big differents to the three playing phases. We understand a lot, can see the blunders faster and the rating systems works better as today with all the possibilites we have so many yea...

Re: A better rating method ?

Hi there, - an error free balanced opening book (FEOBOS is) - many different opponents (each one against each other) - many games - best Excel statistics we can do with the final results ... the games! - great Elo calculation programs - tricky engine settings and much more ... All these things aren'...
