Re: On-line engine blitz tourney June
Visual Studio is amazing! It's the one program that I miss on Linux and will still switch to Windows for. Me too, but QtCreator with some clang/LLMV based plugins is quite amazing too... I meant to check out QtCreator but never got around to it. Heard it was nice. Now I've just started writing a ne...

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney June
The reason that I'm still using Windows is Visual Studio, this is something that Linux lacks, I see you always complaining about it, maybe for C#, clr and .NET it is problematic, I don't know, but for C++ development it works like a charm. Re: On-line engine blitz tourney June
Agreed that Windows has been running backwards since Windows 7. I've abandoned Microsoft in response to this fiasco and I used to be the biggest Microsoft fanboy I knew. I've switched to Linux Mint for my primary machine. I still have a couple Windows 7 boxes, but they will never be upgraded. When W...

Re: about the value of fairy pieces
Exactly. Betza referred to this as the Leveling Effect. The more powerful a piece is the stronger your desire to keep it so the more valuable the weaker pieces become because they can attack it and force it to retreat.

CCRL and new engines
Hello, I've been eagerly watching the CCRL ratings list to see how Komodo 12.1 (regular and MCTS) do, as well as the new Fire 7.1, but nothing yet :( Can anyone say if testing is underway? If no one has been able to get to it yet, please let me know if I can help. I have fairly significant hardware ...

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney May
I left right after it started because it was my daughter's 8th birthday party, but apparently Quadrox was on fire! Finished 7-1-1. It's been a long road, but I'm finally making some real progress.

Re: Good books for self testing?
Wow - that is a nice book. Very ambitious! I've been using lines from the Silver Suites for probably a decade now, but your book was no where near this large when I raided it. (Or else I overlooked the large version.) It was asked how long the lines in this book are so I whipped up a quick graph: ht...

Nice to hear that you are working on a new version of Ares
I test almost exclusively against eight other engines. I rotate them from time to time, but Ares is one of the engines that I have used a lot.
