Hardest chess variant for human

Which chess variants do humans find hardest, leading to mate against humans in less moves than regular chess? Are there any variants where humans including grand masters make frequent tactical blunders, as the calculations are far too complex for a human, but simple for the computer. https://www.you...

Re: Initial position - 27 pieces - Mate in 22 moves?

I was interested in the following position. The initial position with five pieces less for black. How many moves does white need to checkmate? 2b1kb2/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/RNBQKBNR w KQ - 0 1 To solve the position, I used Stockfish 11 . In my experience, the most exact engine when it comes to m...

Re: Maia chess - the holy grail for computer chess?

Is this the holy grail of computer chess? https://maiachess.com „A neural net chess engine that’s been specifically trained to play like a human of a given level would, by using online games of that level as the corpus“ In the past a „normal engine“ was either unbeatable or played somehow unnatural...

Re: Perfect chess engine elo ( 32 men TB) can be within 200 of Stocfish in Tcec LTC conditions

A lot of TB positions have been shown in the previous posts where TB can find the win but not the Stockfish. In those positions, the better side already had certain advantage to win. Practically, you cant create a 32 men TB that also stores chess knowledge about choosing a move that maximise winnin...

Re: Perfect chess engine elo ( 32 men TB) can be within 200 of Stocfish in Tcec LTC conditions

Right. I don't know why others aren't seeing this (obvious) logic. A real 32 man tablebase already knows the outcome of the game in the beginning, so what the hell is a "complication trick" (which someone mentioned) going to do to save Stockfish? What will happen, in *EVERY* game, is this: 1. Playe...

Re: Why does TCEC use unbalanced opening?

I'd like to see TCEC return to using balanced openings, with perhaps a 6 moves per side limit. And 96 draws out of 100. Do you want the best quality chess, or just artificial entertainment? Best quality chess is agreeing to a draw right after starting the clock (both 32 men tbs). And frankly, I can...
