Re: We are the Computer Chess Community. We control ourselves.
The facts remain. Why should an idiot pay 99 euro for something he can dowload in the internet for free without chessbase logo ?! Because albert silver or frederic friedel said in a marketing campaign that fat fritz II “will change your life” ?? The uneducated mass maybe buys it. I remember when fr...

Re: Rating Lists and double standards for clones
Some of the derivatives/forks like Bluefish, SugaR and ShashChess are legal and do bring value in the form of an enhanced style of play. I don't mind seeing them listed on rating lists. I think 'legal' derivatives being shown on ratings lists is fine as long as it is clearly shown what they are a d...

Re: Fat Fritz 2
Really? https://shop.chessbase.com/en/products/houdini_6_pro_multiprocessor_version I phrased myself poorly ("sold" should have been "sold as"). I meant to say that they were not sold as being stockfish-based code, therefore it would be hard for list-makers to label them stockfish on rating-lists u...

Re: Fat Fritz 2
I'm not surprised about this, as CGET is another rating list that treats Fire and Houdini as separate entities from Stockfish as well. I think both Houdini and Fire were not sold and openly admitting they were StockFish?? Really? https://shop.chessbase.com/en/products/houdini_6_pro_multiprocessor_v...

Re: FF2 verses SF, what are the important differences?
With the notable exception of Komodo, I think the incredible success of Stockfish has killed off commercial engines. With regards to selling just an engine you are probably right. I imagine CB only makes a fraction of its money from engine sales. Most of their income probably comes from the other p...

Re: Houdini 1.5 from 2011 has a surprise
I haven't noticed any fragmentation after some weeks large pages use. I see it all the time. If I want to use 100GB hash with large pages, I usually have to reboot. Dann, You may want to give this a try: https://www.wisecleaner.com/wise-memory-optimizer.html On my 64GB machine the optimization take...
