Re: Mate in 17

Black appears to be in zugzwang. Most engines won't find it then. Even with null-move pruning disabled, Stockfish isn't finding anything ... yet: SugaR started with empty hash, 24 threads of a 12x3GHz CPU, 32Gb hash, nullmove disabled, ICCF3 (int.MV- mode 8): 1N1n4/2BPbpPb/3r1p2/2p1kP2/2p1p1P1/2p1P...

Re: a strange analysis by stockfish

Forward/backward analysis isn't even needed here. Stockfish-dev with 6-man tables finds a tablebase win in a direct search from the root position in about 7.5 minutes I know, I just went into the lines to see the Losomosov- positions asap and take the way to them backward in hash, not so much as fo...

Re: WCCC 2019 Macau..

The only thing I'm critiquing is the name "world champion", for something clearly not the best in the world, not by far. Agreed. Especially having in mind, it's called ICGA- WCCC. That would make one think, it would be something even more "official". In boxing there are different associations, so t...

Re: Hiarcs 14 on promotion uci move format

Thanks. I didn't know much of that. I guess in its day it was used by GMs for openings. And that's still so. Hiarcs to me (and most corr.- players I know) is much more the GUI HCE (Hiarcs Chess Explorer) than the engine. It's online- books are monthly updated for abo- users (only) and I don't know ...

Bad Gyal 4a

The endgame data was problematic. This is a rerun without that data at 128x10. This should be the strongest net tactically, including T40, LD2.

Re: Any engines solve this one?

Hi Eelco Yes, but does not mean that CyberNezh has a wrong PV, if it recognizes somehow that Qh4 also does not cut it. White's clearly winning after 1.Nd4 Qh5 2.g4, with 2...Qh4 as well as with 2...Qxg4. 2...Qh4 3.Nf3 and 3...Qxg4 is refuted by 4.Rhg1. After some Forward- Backward of this line and 2...
