I press on g1 and it gets blue, e2, f3 and h3 gets green and it waits for my choice. The whole time the size ...

Re: Testing Stockfish, Lc0, Banksia GUI for iOS (iPhone, iPad, iWatch)
IMO using a finger makes only sense if the GUI directs the cursor to the legal moves possible . E.g. customer presses g1 and hits area arround f1 or h1 and g2 (because finger is so big). Gui sees f1 could be no move because the square is empty. But g1 , Rh1 cannot move because it has no square, g2 c...

This is indeed a very weak engine.... There were later strong 4K and 16k engines from Kaare Danielsen. Nevertheless programmers tried AI and B Strategy ideas in those early years. David Broughton, Thomas Nitsche. I don't care about strength. Fairy Max is valuable for it's design. Yes. I was referri...

Re: Fairy-Max and chess variants rules generalization question to HGM
Most programmers had 8 bit machines with 1 mhz (c64) and maximal 16-32 KB engine size. On the early 16 KB Ram homecomputers even less, e.g. engine sizes between 8 and 10 KB. There were mainly z80 and 6502 machines. One can say that a chess engine on 4 mhz z80 is maybe similar fast on a 2 mhz 6502. I...
