I have one too: The famous Novag Robot Adversary can be seen in Rod Stewart's Video "Baby Jane" from 1983 (who would expect a chess computer in a music video? :wink:) and also in the movie "Sneakers" (with Robert Redford, Dan Akroyd and Sidney Poitier)

Maybe you should consider switching to a different GUI like "Arena", which offers much more options than Chesspad/Chesspad 2 (and changing engine-parameters is very easy there)

This is actually by design. On a typical device, you don't want large processes hanging around when going to make a phone call. However, I can easily reload the UCI engine on restart of the chess app if users find that useful. Sounds good! But maybe you could make it an option like "Keep engine in ...

With Chess for Android , you can import any UCI engine that has been compiled for Android (see these ARM compilations ), including a few that support parallel search to keep multi-cores busy. Some wishes: Is there a chance for pondering on Chess for Android? And the library could be improved... And...

anyone with a samsung tab or other similar devices has a good experience with chess applicacions? Droidfish (Stockfish 2.0) is (imo) the best free chess app for Android devices. For Chess for Android (also free) some UCI engines (Robbolito 085, Stockfish 2.0, Toga 2 and Ivanhoe999947) are available...
