Re: Can Leela CPU train from a PGN file instead of selfplay?

I wonder what would happen if the entire Lichess database was used to train a neural network. It wouldn't play very strongly but could possibly play in a way indistinguishable from humans. Actually, the reason for my question, except I was thinking about using only a thin ratings slice of the datab...

Re: Can Leela CPU train from a PGN file instead of selfplay?

Thanks for the answer. It sounds like it would be a little above my pay grade. Oh well, it was a nice thought. :)

Novag Star Diamond - Glue for vinyl (rubber?) board?

Hi, Hopefully one of the dedicated unit gurus can help me out. I have a Novag Star Diamond dedicated computer, and the vinyl (rubber?) board is lifting up a bit on one side and needs to be tacked down. Can anyone recommend the best type and/or brand name of glue to use for this repair so that the ru...

Can Leela CPU train from a PGN file instead of selfplay?

I'm hoping that it's possible for Leela CPU to train from a large PGN file instead of selfplay. If so, does anyone know how to explain it simply enough for an average Joe to understand it?

Re: Strongest currently available Winboard engines for import to Chessmaster?

Spike 1.4 just lost another game on time, and it wasn't even close. It just stopped working in the middle of the game. Scratch Spike 1.4 from the list.

Re: Strongest currently available Winboard engines for import to Chessmaster?

In its first tournament game, Spike 1.4 lost on time. I'll have to keep a watch on Spike. If it loses many more games on time, I'll have to drop it from the list. I forgot to mention that in my list of engines, I did not have to edit any configuration files; I only added command line parameters for ...

Re: Strongest currently available Winboard engines for import to Chessmaster?

I still find Chessmaster the most beautiful interface, easier on the eye and less cluttered than anything released since. So I want to keep using it, and I want to watch matches between good engines on it. I've successfully imported Greko into Chessmaster 10, and the games are great, as Greko is ar...

Re: Strongest currently available Winboard engines for import to Chessmaster?

Thanks for all these great replies. I've already installed Crafty and played a game (though I notice another thread saying that a new version is being released). Got Crafty to play one 5 min game with CMX, resulting in a rather thrilling 186 move draw, ending with Crafty having a queen and CMX a ro...

Re: Crafty 25.3 Release

This is good news. I'm assuming that the new version of Crafty is still Winboard compatible and can still be imported into Chessmaster 10/11? So far, I think there's only a 64-bit compile of version 25.3, which will not work in Chessmaster 10. I don't know if it will work in Chessmaster 11. If some...

Re: Strongest currently available Winboard engines for import to Chessmaster?

but one cannot include external engines in engine tournaments...that was a deal-breaker for me. Hello Brendan. I recently tried adding Crafty to my Chessmaster 10. I found that it wouldn't take 64-bit Winboard engines, but it would take 32-bit Winboard engines. I also needed to add an xboard comman...
