Re: Chess for Android: Quick Castling/En-passant

This change is now available on Google Play (this time around, rolling out took a very long time, not sure why).

Re: Chess for Android: Quick Castling/En-passant

nice to hear that the improvement of Chess for Android is going on! :D When can we see your next release? Are there other points that will come for sure? Hard to say at this point. I have a very long todo list, but it is usually just a matter of what peaks my interest when I have some spare time......

Re: Chess for Android: Quick Castling/En-passant

Castling should only be possible by touching the king first. Well, if one blatantly moves the rook first, the move registers as a rook move, of course, and any subsequent king move is rejected (the electronic boards I support give no indication of touching a piece). The new implementation is just m...

Re: Chess for Android: Quick Castling/En-passant

Or is my knowledge of the official chess rules outdated? No, you are correct. I took the FIDE rule of moving the king first for castling but that decision translated to a restrictive implementation for en-passant as well. For all other captures, the order did not matter even before. The capture wou...

Chess for Android: Quick Castling/En-passant

Chess for Android , when connected to an electronic board (Certabo, Millennium, DGT), was a bit restrictive with castling and en-passant moves. It expected the king to move fist, then the rook; likewise, the capturing pawn first, then the removed pawn. I actually implemented it this way on purpose,...

I have a small "request", if it's possible! Can you add new option for tournaments, "Search Depth"?
Added to TODO list. Interesting follow-up discussions too!

Perhaps Gerhard or Peter can chime in and say which repository is the "master" for OEX?
Gerhard kindly confirmed that https://github.com/gkalab/chessenginesupport-androidlib is the master repository going forward.

Re: Ambiguous: UCI and option Clear Hash

As a user I would be surprised if buttons did not have an immediate effect, and I never considered the method you describe. But come to think of it, I am not sure it would ever make any observable difference, though. Perhaps if there was a button that toggled something in the engine. (But why would...

Re: Chess for Android: UCI engine options

Thank you. Unfortunately the https://code.google.com/archive/p/chessenginesupport-androidlib page is broken: all links bring to 404 and code is malformed. Interesting. The main page and description are there, but most links indeed are broken. How about https://github.com/gkalab/chessenginesupport-a...

Re: Chess for Android: UCI engine options

From the chess programming wiki I understood that there's a chessbase-format for packaging chess-programs for Android and that C-f-A also supports this. Is this how it currently works? E.g. with the importing from sd-card feature etc? Or is there also an other way to package things? If so: can you ...
