Re: 5D Chess with Multiverse Time Travel

Here's Hikaru playing the game (he should have worked his way through the examples first!) - link.

Re: 5D Chess with Multiverse Time Travel

Haven't tried it, but it looks as though it becomes too complex to reasonably play if you create too many timelines - link . I'm not sure how the future is supposed to work, but the past is an interesting concept: you can move a piece onto a position that occurred earlier in the game, and that then ...

Re: DDR5 RAM is coming in 2021

Open message to the person who sent me a PM asking me to do some tests (I'm not going to name them in case they wish to remain private). I greatly value test results, and I am grateful to the people who do them. My interest in computer chess has always been to follow a particular branch of AI, and b...

Re: DDR5 RAM is coming in 2021

Is anyone fired up about this? I find it interesting. It's good to know that faster memory is becoming available, and that will probably have the effect of making current memory cheaper. I'm not "fired up" about it though. What I am excited about is SOC technology. What I'm seeing here is: * very p...

Re: Larry Kaufman

Larry has added another success to his career. Dragon Komodo won the First TCEC Swiss Tournament. Congrats to Komodo Team (Mark and Larry) https://wiki.chessdom.org/TCEC_Swiss_1 Those who say 22 games less should not forget that the world chess champion is determined by 12 games. +1. Congratulation...

Re: We are past the stage where the OS has become the virus

My chess analysis was running slow. So I looked at what processes in memory were doing. There was this thing: Compattelrunner.Exe It was using 17% of my compute power, and my chess task which should be at 95% was struggling. Apparently, it is MS Windows spy process that you cannot turn off. So I fo...

Re: Amazing Computer Board on Kickstarter

Looks interesting but what is the hardware for the chess engine? Whatever hardware it is, it's able to run SF which means it can destroy Carlsen or any human on max strength. So unless you are gonna use it for analysis hardware is totally irrelevant. I might be wrong, but I thought that playing SF ...

Some moderation penalty on useless permanent full quoting would that help? ;) This thread should be added to the internet-wiki, as a role model, how a troll lures another member into full quoting... Watch the troll-barometer! It seems unfair to criticise for full quoting unless you have a rule, or ...

"My concern: just as it's not possible to teach a housefly to write intellectual articles, so it is not possible to teach a human to play chess like stockfish." How do you know? I'm not a fan of statements that aren't backed up by data. I assume you don't want me to prove that houseflies cannot wri...

Re: New (free) Chess App - www.TheChessTrainer.com

A very good idea!

My concern: just as it's not possible to teach a housefly to write intellectual articles, so it is not possible to teach a human to play chess like stockfish.

However, if the human could pick up some deep patterns like GMs must have, that would be a very big positive!
