Re: CoronaVirusChess

What do you think? Should these kind of flame wars be deleted altogether, or should they be left up for amusement value? Please provide some feedback! When I was a CTF moderator, the software didn't allow this, but my preference has always been for rephrasing, so, "You piece of s**t" could be turne...

Re: List of bugfree, opensource Linux and MacOSX engines

In the category "very weak engines", I have the JavaScript AI that powers the Interactive Diagram, so that it can be used as a demo to play against: symmetry=mirror Pawn::::a2-h2 Knight:N:::b1,g1 Bishop::::c1,f1 Rook::::a1,h1 Queen::::d1 King::::e1 I wonder if I should port it C and graft it on a C...

Re: ProDeo (A Crazy Idea)

I've been playing around with some of the old Dos Rebels on my Tablet using Magic Dosbox and started wondering how difficult would it be to backport Prodeo (Maybe even Benjamin) to the old dos Rebel GUI? I know it is a crazy idea, but it would allow users a way to use them under Android via DosEMU....

Re: Future of computer chess: 2 top engines?

I have many problems with it to say ... that's a good positional move. Last year I am thinking I have to read Karpov books for learn more about positional moves. But after reading I am thinking Karpow have in best years the optimal understandings for openings and best fields for knights and bishops...

I can replicate exactly what you see with fast time controls and equal engines. And have many matches showing this result. Are you sure about this? Remember TCEC deliberately imbalances openings to reduce the probability of drawn games. Are you saying that chess computers with state the art hardwar...

Re: Perfect chess engine elo ( 32 men TB) can be within 200 of Stocfish in Tcec LTC conditions

Note that I am not sure if computers are close to be unbeatable at long time control but it is possible that it is the case... Consider two possibilities: 1. The "blunder" model is correct: chess is a draw, and a game can only be won if there's a blunder. Chess computers (and top level corresponden...

Re: Perfect chess engine elo ( 32 men TB) can be within 200 of Stocfish in Tcec LTC conditions

TCEC stopped using the opening position for computer-computer games. I suspect that we are going to have also at least 95% draws if you play a match between stockfish and lc0 or stockfish and dragon from the opening position at TCEC conditions but without wrong opening(give the engines to choose th...

Re: Perfect chess engine elo ( 32 men TB) can be within 200 of Stocfish in Tcec LTC conditions

For this mini-thought experiment, please assume that chess is drawn (I know it's not proven yet): * losses strongly correlate with blunders * the deeper the search, the fewer the number of blunders Unfortunately, not all engines measure depth in the same way. However maybe we can come up with a "re...
