Re: Stockfish: Our lawsuit against ChessBase

Why is computer chess so full of nasty, spiteful people? If I may be permitted a generalisation, there seem to be a lot of spergs in this field. Sperg, a derogatory slang term for someone with Asperger syndrome, autism spectrum disorder or someone showing traits that are commonly associated with it...

Re: Stockfish: Our lawsuit against ChessBase

Computers can not create art (whatever they create can in no way be called art). If you really think they can you understand art even less than computers. https://www.thestar.com.my/tech/tech-news/2019/11/14/art-meets-ai-computer-generated-works-set-for-new-york-sale https://www.google.com/search?q...

Re: Stockfish: Our lawsuit against ChessBase

Based on what I’ve seen in the blog post and the statements of various stockfish contributors like noob, the facts of their case don’t seem that strong. It leads one to wonder whether winning the case is their primary concern. Shortly after FF2 was launched, there was a long thread in this forum di...

Re: Did all top commercial engines around 2005 violate Fruit 2.1's GPL license?

...And then, somebody decompiled Rybka, and everybody could see his secrets. Since it was never discovered who the culprit were, Rybka's ideas were diffused and incorporated in all modern engines. Strange things were happening at the time: Vas's behaviour was odd in general(IMO), he was looking for...

Re: Are hybrid approaches stronger than pure nnue?

Big picture: if NNs keep on improving their chess skill, there won't be much point to hybrid.

People used to say that computer+human was stronger than either computer or human alone - but that period was short lived: now the best chess just comes from a strong computer on its own.

Time to start a crowd fund for the rating list guys

I wonder how much of a discount we could get if we collectively bought a large amount of Cloud Compute time?

Re: AlphaZero to analyse “no-castling” match

Google Deepmind PR. Current Stockfish 14 is very likely to be stronger than AlphaZero at no-castling chess, and it is very easy for the Stpckfish net trainers to train a net specifically for no-vastling chess in a few days. Can't you just set up the starting position and stipulate that castling is ...

Re: Time to rethink what Vasik Rajlich has done?

Ok, so I am accusing you of being pedophile, now go ahead bring evidence and prove that you are not. 1. You have a clear motive for saying that: you're making a point 2. There's only one of you making the accusation - not several good people 3. The accusation is not backed up by a document of...

Re: Time to rethink what Vasik Rajlich has done?

The events happened around 10 years. The source code no longer has any competitive or commercial value. I am bewildered that people are fighting passionately for a man who, if innocent, could have cleared his name at the drop of a hat at any time in the last 10 years. What evidence is there that the...
