Re: Komodo Dragon vs Stockfish 12 (Blackburne-Shilling Gambit)
I do believe that in 85% of the opening under Standard chess, no matter which opening you chose will always benefit the White Side, to truly know which program is best FRC is the best way to find out since there is no Known Opening theory and both programs will be on their own calculating from the ...

Re: Positions Chess Engines Don't Understand
Hello everyone :) I'm interested in positions (especially problems) that chess engines struggle to understand for various reasons. Perhaps there is a known collection that is used for testing, or perhaps members might know positions that interest them that they would share? Here is an example (Giri...

Re: triskaidekaphobia
There have been many puzzles/compositions designed as single numbers or letters on the board.
Any for number 13?
Or a black cat running under a ladder?

Funnily enough Chessbase now has an article on his KP studies https://en.chessbase.com/post/study-of-the-month-2021-02 But there is a lot of great background information on this man. Does anyone have FENs for positions in thie CB article before I enter them manual...

Re: Fat Fritz 2
The Chessbase article linked above "Fat Fritz 2: The Best of Both Worlds " gives some ratings, but Stockfish has improved since then, not a selling point. A couple of test positions are shown as well, but only giving times for one run when using a multi-thread analysis is useless, the times to solve...

Re: NNs seem to solve the Gusev Qxe5!! easily.
But Stockfish dev(12 November 2019) cannot solve it even after 35 billion nodes searched and 67 ply. It cannot even find the Qxe5 move. Stockfish is known for pruning. Stockfish doesn't "look for the best move", it instead "looks for a move that probably wasn't a bad move". Late move reductions fun...
