Re: Diep 2.0
As an aside: from what I remember, there have been cases where failure to defend a copyright has lead to judges ruling that the copyright is now void. I think that was under common law jurisdiction (in the US), and it's not clear to me how that would translate to other parts of the world. Internati...

Re: Latest Stockfish with old time managment
There are 18(?) FRC opening positions that leave the rooks and the king in the standard starting positions. Would that make it easier to set up engines to let them play chess18?
Just as a stopgap, of course.

Re: Komodo 2017 TCEC Blitz Champion
Congratulations to the Komodo Team on winning the TCEC 2017 Blitz Championship. That's impressive - congrats to Mark , Larry and team. 👊 Again i say, that the main tournament was roundly won by Houdini. Houdini beat a slightly buggy Komodo. Komodo gambled and lost the rapids with their upda...

If you're using Linux you should just be able to click on it. The program is called Transmission. Make sure you have enough disk space.daniel71 wrote:I never used a Torrent client before so I would need instructions on that also.

Re: David Silver (Deepmind) inaccuracies
That the computer-chess community instead seems of the predominant opinion that winning the TCEC says nothing about the quality of the engine, which in this case is only pathetically weak, and won only because of the book and the tablebases played the largest part of each game on its behalf in TCEC...

Re: David Silver (Deepmind) inaccuracies
That would be wrong, and Deep Mind knows it. I don't know it they would want to pursue a title or not. It seems like a bit of a waste to me. It's time to move on to more practical problems, although they may want to continue with StarCraft.Rebel wrote:To me it sounds as brutal commerce, we AZ are now WC

We had one of those. The membership was nearly equally divided, just as they are so far in this poll.mjlef wrote:Maybe a poll about was the match fair?

Would this work to beat top professionals at go? I don't think so. I very much doubt that Google switched to Romichess' methods when training for chess.

Re: AlphaGo and Stockfish played on similar hardware
We can't test it but still there are some pretty good indications. When playing from the chess opening position A0 was 100Elo stronger than SF. When playing from Sicilian B40 (the opening that A0 trained very little) which was only 2 moves deep, A0 advantage drop to 38.5Elo. Huge drop in performanc...
