Promotions in SEE

I have started writing some code for an implementation of SEE, based on the recursive version on the chessprogramming wiki. I am having a little difficulty understanding how to incorporate promotion captures into the SEE. Do I just ignore them (seems like a bad idea), or do I do something else? I th...

Re: Delta pruning test

So, I just added 3 lines of code to my engine, CeeChess, for delta pruning, following the chessprogramming wiki. Delta = 1000; // queen value if (Score + Delta < alpha) { // if no move can improve alpha, return return alpha; } After the addition to quiescence, it searches MORE nodes, and yet after ...

Re: Delta pruning test

@xr_a_y my quiescence is only captures, and I extend checks before qsearch, so there isn't likely to be checks in the qsearch (although adding checks and promotions sounds like a good idea, I will think about doing that) Also, turns out I messed up one of the parts of the test (namely, only one of t...

Re: Delta pruning test

I did already have a qSearch, that's why this seems really weird. (my first release already had qSearch implemented, so I'm not sure how much elo it added)
I will run more games, but my computer is not the fastest lol

Re: New chess engine: Rustic

As @Alayan says, I would recommend working on the search for a while, and delaying building an advanced evaluation until later. I gained almost 150 elo from the search without much effort, and I could probably gain about 50-100 elo more with tuned values in the search. P.S. I renamed seeChess to Cee...

If anyone has tips on king safety evaluation, that would be super helpful :D

Re: New Regium Automated Chess Board

Caveat Emptor Extraordinary Claims Require Extraordinary Evidence I have been watching this on the other chess forums. Saying that Regium is a fake, and the demo was all CGI. I find this ridiculous as this technology is simple, but just never used for a chessboard. I will be buying Regium. If Regiu...

Re: New engine: seeChess

Hi all! I just got into the hobby of chess engines, and I am finally happy enough with the start of this engine to release it. It is heavily based on Vice by bluefever, but it should play around 2200 ELO. It is written in C, and is UCI compliant. the GitHub link: https://github.com/bctboi23/seeChes...
