I know some people have reported issues, but on my old computer I used hyper threading while testing and it seemed to work OK.

New computer suggestions please
Considering starting working on Hannibal again. My development computer is old and broken; any suggestions on what hardware I should purchase that gives me good bang for the buck for running lots of simultaneous test games? It would be a nice bonus if the machine was also good for online tournament ...

I tried a compile for Windows XP. Message me if you want to beta test it for me. As soon as someone tells us it works, we will include it in the download package.

Hello Edsel, I started a test already. If it gets into the TOP 16 it will throw out the old horse Naum :-) I remember Hanibal 1.5 having some ponder issues which causes a lot of time losses. The first 20 games of 1.7 are fine ... I am crossing fingers! Thanks for the version Ingo Ponder worked fine...

It is not clear what "scales" means in this context. I have seen references to BOTH higher NPS, AND longer time-to-depth. If I had time, I'd run a few tests on it to see what it does on my 20 or 24 core boxes... But that's time away from working on my code, which is not exactly a good use of time. ...
