Re: Leela and the curse of not finishing a won match cleanly.

The current preferred "zero" method of addressing this issue is MLH (Moves-Left Head). The idea being to learn to predict how many moves remain until the end of the game from a position, and giving a bonus for moves which lead to shorter-game positions when ahead (and a bonus for longer-game positio...

Re: 1.g4 opening is losing?

Measuring by nodes does not convince me, though, I'd still like to see a draw against Depth 39 (on Game 1 I was still able to produce potential drawing lines against Depth 38, up until the very end, so D39 is where the line could be drawn and it'd be enough to defeat any defense.) Drawing line vers...

Re: 1.g4 opening is losing?

That's why playing a game is so important, even without time limit you eventually have to commit to a move, and in this format nobody has been able to find any white defense that draws. Yeah. My personal opinion is that 1. g4 probably is lost by force - but if you committed to some deterministic pr...

Re: 1.g4 opening is losing?

Or else this is a drawing line for White. People who believe Black wins by force are free to point out where they think Black erred. Some quick backwards analysis suggests that by move 11 white was already a long ways towards equalizing, and that 10... Na6 was better than 10... dxe2 (But this isn't...

Re: 1.g4 opening is losing?

You don't need to wait for 0.00, if black's score goes below -1.30 it has already blundered. The trick is that you don't continue the game, but go back to a position where black played a stronger move. If you can't find any move that keeps the score above -1.30, you have found your mainline. There ...

Re: 1.g4 opening is losing?

fastgm's Depth 60 attack should suffice. YOU DON'T NEED ANYTHING BETTER, CHECKING OTHER BLACK MOVES IS A WASTE OF TIME. Unfortunately, I don't have the hardware or the patience to find a drawing line against depth60 SF. Failing that, here's one with one billion nodes/move for black. I could perhaps...

Re: Crazy good LTC Kiudee "mod" setting just by adjusting CPuct

Tuning via self-play, at least in the past, has tended to produce a race to the bottom of lower CPUCT. Since the opponent is nearly a clone (aside from search settings) they're very unlikely to make moves that aren't on the nets radar at all, and so it's more important to get higher depth on the hig...
