Just a small annotation: like I said, you need to compile the latest sources of SCID to work with these files. The precompiled version 4.6.4 will not work correctly.
But still, it's kind of strange, that your SCID database files won't exceed 2 GB in size (even with SCID vs PC). Mine is 2.4 GB without any problems.

I have no intention to compile sth out of the blue, if I am not convinced that would work here, sorry.styx wrote:Just a small annotation: like I said, you need to compile the latest sources of SCID to work with these files. The precompiled version 4.6.4 will not work correctly.

Actually it looks like some hardware limitation on my side.

I have uploaded a precompiled version of the latest sources:Guenther wrote:I have no intention to compile sth out of the blue, if I am not convinced that would work here, sorry.

I would like to know if there are limitations that I'm not aware of and I will appreciate if you can give it a try (installation is not necessary, just decompress and launch bin/scid.exe).
Thanks.

Ok thanks Fulvio. I will try it, but not before tomorrow evening.Fulvio wrote:I have uploaded a precompiled version of the latest sources:Guenther wrote:I have no intention to compile sth out of the blue, if I am not convinced that would work here, sorry.

May be you should also prepare a version with some debugging on,
because I really expect it will happen again here?

Well, I was too curious and I couldn't wait and this time not even did it not crash before the first chunk was imported,Guenther wrote:Ok thanks Fulvio. but also it smoothly imported the second chunk leaving the previous 2GB limit smashed!
The sg4 file is now ~3.5GB and there are 3M games in it.
I feel sorry for my mistrust.
It remains strange though that the 2GB limit existed here with all other versions tested from
Scid 4.64 to Scid vs. PC 4.18 and its cmd import tool too?
Anyhow, thanks a lot Fulvio and Andreas and all others.
I guess I will live now with the 16M limit for scid4 db files :)
Seems a good chance for Manuel to test this version too.
