Yeah, I gave up on position 4, looks like I'll be rank 7 from week 4 onwards. If it happened in a real game, I'd have resigned in a won position
Awesome one, well done Ed!

Week-4 is up.
Made it harder, I hope, to shake the top of the tree.
Please read the instructions in the comment section of each position carefully!
For position 1-3 contribute the mate in x number.
For position 4, the move to draw scores 1 point, the first 6 moves of the mainline scores 2 points. So, some of you can score a +100% score

Good luck!

For one of them, I think that the standard solution is probably wrong.Rebel wrote:I am enjoying the silence in my mailboxMikeB wrote:definitely harder, thank God for the internet ;>) !Rebel wrote:Week-4 is up.

I am checking that right now.
The other 3 were easy
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Four entries so far and 3 got 2 points providing the correct mainline for position-4. I made that visible by adding an extra column called Bonus.
Nobody so far got position-2 right, contributed numbers fluctuate with an interval of 18! We will see next week.

For one of the problems, the stated mate distance from YACPDB is definitely wrong.zullil wrote:Are you certain you know what the correct number is?Rebel wrote:Four entries so far and 3 got 2 points providing the correct mainline for position-4. Correct, it was not mate in x but mate in y where y=x-(sqrt(49)-log(10000))Dann Corbit wrote:For one of the problems, the stated mate distance from YACPDB is definitely wrong.zullil wrote:Are you certain you know what the correct number is?Rebel wrote:Four entries so far and 3 got 2 points providing the correct mainline for position-4.
