CCRL has it just shy of 2600. About the lowest release of Ethereal with executables to go with it.

If you want something weaker, I'll dig deeper and see what I can come up with.
Got it, thanks! But I am hoping for a gauntlet of 2300+ to 2600 elo engines in the number of as close to 50 as possible. I have nowhere near that number. And I realize that most people have nowhere near that number either.

Now I want to run Romi through a large 2 round gauntlet of engines of similar strength from the starting position. Once with learning turned off and once using the learn file from the above training. The problem is I do not have enough engines for the gauntlet. And when I try to download a bunch of engines from links given the links no longer work. The favor that I am asking is for someone to volunteer to run these gauntlets. The goal is to see just how much elo Romi gains from the 800 training games.

Any takers?

Thanks in advance. :D
What do you mean with download links don't work?
Can you tell me links that don't work from the XB/UCI chronolgy?
Is it possible you don't know the chronology (after it was revived in 2016)?

I have just come back to programming in the last few months after many years of illness. Please forgive me for not being aware of all that has transpired while I was away. Do you have a link (a working one, lol) to the XB/UCI chronology?

Komodo 9

Fizbo 1.9

Roc 0.9 (Gull based)
Houdini 1.5a
Booot 6.2
Texel 1.07a35
Hannibal 1.7
Nirvanachess 2.4
Elektro 1.2

They're way stronger, so you'll have to give them much less time to bring them down to RomiChess' level. Also, you'll finish much earlier.
Helpful, maybe, but not enough for my purpose. But thanks anyway. Is a favor of a few hours or a few days depending on the time limit chosen too big a favor to ask despite my tens of thousands of man hours spent producing an engine that only a few people enjoy? If so, I'm sorry for suggesting someone inconvenience themselves for little ole me.
PS: Mark Lefler doesn't refer to himself in the 3rd person, if you catch my drift.
I don't have the energy to solve riddles. Are you hinting at this.
I think it is a 100% possibility that the AlphaZ team is at least aware of RomiChess's learning algorithm. Especially with a quote like the following from the chess programming wiki.

"RomiChess is famous for its learning approach"

And the fact that at least one individual on the AlphaZ team is a member of Talkchess. This is circumstantial evidence albeit strong circumstantial evidence but not quite proof. However, if any prior endeavor helped to show the way it is a very strong probability RomiChess had a part in that. If so it would be nice if Google-Deep-Mind gave an honorary mention to RomiChess AND ITS AUTHOR.
If so I was just thinking generically as it is just generically correct to give credit no matter how small or big the contribution may have been. So referring to myself in the third person was just making a generic statement. What that has to do with Mark I have no idea so maybe I have no clue what you are referring to, sorry.

do you need strockfish like engines, or weaker?
I think I understand why Mike wants a set of top engines. He wants to build a more varied top quality learning tree. Am I right? :D

I'd have been happy to participate at the testing. Unfortunately, I'm playing correspondence chess and I use most of my free time in games analyses with the help of PHs. :(

Yes, it is a limited test and I wanted Romi to learn the best moves from SF to see what effect it has against engines close to Romi's strength.

It is pretty hard to find engines that handle very fast time controls w/o time losses.

I don't think you said what platform you want. If Windows is ok, you can try some of the engines that come with Arena (http://playwitharena.com/?Partner_Chess_Engines). They are maybe in the range you are looking for.

Personally I only use Linux for test matches. But the engines I have installed there are pretty much all 2700+ (CEGT). For something weaker, I am not sure what I'd recommend. There are a lot of older Arasan versions on my download page (https://www.arasanchess.org/old_downld.shtml). One of those might fit the bill.

Thanks Jon, If no one will run the test for me then I will just start slowly acquiring suitable engines. There is always the wayback machine to try with some of the links. I retrieved some files that I had lost to a hard disk failure using the wayback machine. WBEC Ridderkirk had lots of links and that is where I got my files back from. But, it is time consuming.

Hi !

We (CEGT) have listed an older RomiChess P3L w32 @ ELO 2226.
Perhaps the following engines are eligible ?

Xpdnt 091007 | CEGT-ELO 2300 | http://opraus.com/ai/
Yace 0.99.87 | CEGT-ELO 2305 | https://sites.google.com/site/marochess/yace
Murka 2.0 x64 | CEGT-ELO 2308 | http://www.sdchess.ru/download_engines.htm
Ufim 7.01 | CEGT-ELO 2322 | http://kirr.homeunix.org/chess/engines/ ... mpilation)

and much more are available.

Best wishes,
