Project Sting is to prove that chess engines are able to solve some difficult positions, dedicated for intelligent creatures, without any tricks.
Sting is still based on an old version of Stockfish 2.1.1 .
I used the modified by me code for PV lines of Stockfish 6.
How does it work?

Re: Sting SF 9 Release
Hello Marek and thanks for this new version !
I tried a "draw by stalemate threat" :
[d]1k6/3p4/1B6/4Pp1p/1p5R/1p4p1/pP3n2/K6n w - -
After
[Event "Computer chess game"]
[White "w"]
[Black "b"]
[Result "1/2-1/2"]
[FEN "1k6/3p4/1B6/4Pp1p/1p5R/1p4p1/pP3n2/K6n w - - 0 1"]
1. Rxh1 Nxh1 2. e6 dxe6 3. Bc7+ Kb7 4.Bxg3
1/2-1/2
We get [d]8/1k6/4p3/5p1p/1p6/1p4B1/pP6/K6n b - - 0 4
And draw because the bishop will sac as soon as possible.
But Sting-SF is blind here

Also regarding Diep - was that written in C or C++ and do you ever plan to make that code available? Would love to see that available for the Mac.
best regards,
Michael

macOS downloads
directly from Marek's source above - includes 1 bmi2 version, and two popcnt versions, complied with clang - so one of these should work on most macs 2010 and newer...lech wrote:download: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ok9mtqmja ... g-sf-9.zip

Re: Sting SF 9 Release
Hi Vincent
We already spoke about this position and it would be a good thing for Sting to be able to find.

The second position is the draw by a missing gain.
The first (start) position can be difficult for Sting but if I remember well Stockfish is able to solve it. It means that Sting will be do it too.
Maybe, I can't be friendly, but let me be useful.

In fact, the project Sting seems to be practicaly finished.
I am very happy that others try to follow me.
Sting proves that "impossible is possible", but it doesn't mean that Sting makes it in the best way.
For this reason the "IQ test" ( http://talkchess.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=65505 ) seems to be that important.
