Sorry about that Ernest, but Windows XP is 16 years old now...from 2001.ernest wrote:PLEASE Norman !kranium wrote: Sorry no Haswell compile...

Please understand just how much effort it would be for me to setup a box with XP on it, and try to find out what the issue is.
Have you tried setting compatibility mode?
Right-click on the exe and choose Compatibility...
If this is of no help, may I kindly suggest you get a new PC (or a new OS)?

Microsoft has a vm with xp preinstalled, so you could just download and run it.kranium wrote:Sorry about that Ernest, but Windows XP is 16 years old now...from 2001.ernest wrote:PLEASE Norman !kranium wrote: Sorry no Haswell compile...

He could also simply target xp without having to have xp. Unfortunately, building for XP makes the project broken for important things like profile and code analysis.jwes wrote:Microsoft has a vm with xp preinstalled, so you could just download and run it.kranium wrote:Sorry about that Ernest, but Windows XP is 16 years old now...from 2001.ernest wrote:PLEASE Norman !kranium wrote: Sorry no Haswell compile...

Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Don't understand what you mean, Dann.Dann Corbit wrote: Unfortunately, building for XP makes the project broken for important things like profile and code analysis.
Almost every today's chess program is still able to run in XP.

Yes I know, starting with Fire 4, there was no longer XP compatibility.
Any idea what event could have trigged that ?
And I wonder why, since most other chess programs are still XP compatible.
Since you don't have an XP computer for testing, maybe if you find the time, you can send me a few test exes for me to test (preferably XP x64, no popcnt).
Note : of course I tried compatibility mode, no success...

If you're running XP, I think you just have to accept that some new programme releases won't work.

Do you have an infinite analysis showing that Fire 6.1 likes Rc4 ?
At what depth ?
