[d]8/pppr1kpp/8/8/8/5P2/PPP1RKPP/8 w - - 0 0
1) Is this position winning or draw ?
2) Are humans able to win with white against top engines ?
3) Are humans able to draw with black against top engines ?
1> Hard to say, +1 does not mean winning.
2> I find it hard to believe that Carlsen can win this endgame with white against Houdini 6.
3> No way, not even Nakamura with engine match experience.
Really no point buying a Chess Engine nowadays, whether Komodo or Houdini as the top 3 Engines are roughly of the same strength. Stockfish has taken the fun out of competitive engine chess.
As Lyudmil Tsvetkov said in a Post in the Tournament section, there is no point buying a Chess Engine unless it is at least 50 ELO ahead of the nearest competitor.
Fully agree.
Computer chess will die if everybody follows what you suggest.
Luckily many people are more generous and astute than you.
While commercial engines benefit from SF being open-source, also SF development is largely driven by the competition with Houdini and Komodo. Without competition the SF development would die as well (there's little drive when you're 200 Elo ahead of the rest...).
If you really care for computer chess (and I assume you do, since you spend time on this forum), you should consider supporting commercial chess engines.
To end on a positive note, here's the current standing in the IPON tournament after nearly 3000 games:
You should make a version for Android or at the very least make the engine available to purchase as a import option for various apps like ChessBase online or Droidfish. I don't use desktop versions of engines and all study/research is done with high powered Android mobiles.

As of now, it can be said that in the final IPON list Houdini 6 will come at 39 +/- 3 ELO points above Komodo 11.2.2, and 54 +/- 3 ELO points above Stockfish 8, both predictions with 95% confidence. Impressive! I don't see a very high Contempt to inflate the rating of Houdini 6 now, as I didn't see that in "mystery" engine of one week ago. Both Stockfish dev and Komodo will need several months (say 3-8) to catch up to this result, when their new incarnations will appear on IPON, so Houdini 6 will stay as the leader on IPON for awhile.
Version 5 is great for me because I like engines with tactical strengths and an aggressive style with many pieces on board. The work Robert do since around version 3 is enormous. So today Houdini is for me an own engine and has nothing todo with a clone.
Maybe Houdini is the most aggressive engine today. Sure, v6 will be great for us.

Very, very impressive! Houdini 6 is a monster!!! Congratulations for programming the strongest engine in the world (today).
At the moment, Houdini 6 seems to be +65 Elo stronger than Houdini 5.01. WOW!
