Nice tournament!

Unfortunately due to me having mis-configured xboard, it did not save the games played by texel. If anyone has saved any games played by texel, could you please consider sending them to me?

For the future it would be nice if all games in the tourney could be saved automatically. Something like WatchBot, although I don't think WatchBot is available for download.

You can retrieve the games using history and examine.

Very useful. I wasn't at home for the tournament so I didn't know Nirvana's game results until now:

Code: Select all

66: + 2128 B 1716 rpiArminius [ br 5 1] A45 Res Sat Aug 19 22:54:31 2017
67: = 2130 W 2185 Fizbo [ br 5 1] D43 NM Sat Aug 19 23:09:07 2017
Seems I never got to play Texel, assuming I did that correctly.

You can request the individual games by the command

smoves PLAYER NUMBER

where the NUMBER is the one from the list you got by

hist

(for your own games) or

hist PLAYER

So to see NirvanaRB's game against Berta you would issue

smoves NirvanaRB 64

WinBoard would automatically capture the game, and then allow you to browse through it with the < > keys, or save it as PGN file.

Wouldn't it be useful to collect the full pgn after a tournament and make it available?
BTW how far back does the history of games reach? I would like to collect as much games as I can get from previous monthly tournaments :)

Guenther

Edit:

I would like to create a database, stats and history about those monthly tournaments...

Thanks!

The other solutions given in this thread (examine and smoves) are also very useful, but thinking times and scores are not included in the pgn in that case.

Useful, perhaps. (You are the first in all those years to ask this, which makes me wonder how many users there would be.) To do it by hand would certainly be a tedious task, as the ICS doesn't support any command for bulk-download of games.

I think there exists bots, however, that you can log on to the ICS during a tourney, and which then automatically request and save every game of the tourney as soon as mamer reports it finished. I don't have such a bot. but I vaguely recall Joshua Shriver made one.

The history goes back 40 games. This is already a change I made from the original ICS code, which only keeps the 10 latest games. The system is such that games have a two-digit number, which wraps on reaching 99.

Beware, what you see are only the WaDuuttie scores and thinking times.

I could retrieve this information on the Texel thinking proces form the Winboard debug file (needs probably some editing):
