Technical question to epd/pgn, ranking system opening pos.

Hi there,

these days I am thinking about the final FEOBOS results.

My questions:

Step 1
If I have the final results to 42.000 *.pgn and have in the same order of numbers the 42.000 *.epd and in the same order of numbers a *.txt file with the ranking position number to each of the 42.000 positions ...

It is possible to set the number of ranking positions in *.pgn and *.epd files?

Step 2
Can I sort the *.epd and *.pgn file to the ranking number if the ranking number after step 1 is included?

With the Excel of Klaus Wlotzka we calculate for each position after the analysis of 10 engines a ranking after 5 criterias.

If possible ... the situation with the final results of FEOBOS will be very easy. User can build with the best 35.000 or 30.000 or 25.000 the opening books. And I haven't to reject the positions manually in the database. Or, user can build with the best 50, 100, 200, 500 positions very easy a test-set with best opening positions of history, three moves after ECO codes was formed.

PS: The ranking positions number is much better as evals of 10 engines or average of 10 evals because average of eval is one criterium only for the ranking number and not exactly enough.

Pos. 00001 in pgn / epd = 12.754 in ranking
Pos. 00002 in pgn / epd = 41.876 in ranking
Pos. 00003 in pgn / epd = 00.171 in ranking

For the ranking number I can create a *.txt file (no problem).
Can we do with sort feature in Excel worksheet "eval out".

Now ranking number must be added in *.pgn file.
And *.pgn file must be sort by ranking number (from position number to ranking number).

From *.pgn (sort after ranking) I can create with pgn-extract a new *.epd file (clear for me). But for different reasons I must have the ranking number in *.epd file too.

And the final FEOBOS result will be wonderfull for eng-eng testing.

I believe not possible but the perfect situation is a program in VB for App. directly for Excel. So user can click in Excel on a button, Excel found the basic databases in epd and pgn and create what we need full automatically.
