too many lines, Carl, do you have an optimal one for black, I could refute?

I am certain Qa5-a4 is a weak manoeuver, white should not have hard time refuting it.

OK, so there are two interesting lines

1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.e5 c5 5.a3 Bc3+ 6.bc Ne7

a) 7.g3!? Qa5!? and if you play 8.Bd2 then I go Qa4 - your move.

b) 7.Nf3 Nbc6 8.Bd3 Qa5!? - again your move.
I can not play against everyone, at every time, every possible line.

I already posted my input on Qa4, please check thread before posting.

on Qa5, Bd2.

Since you think g4 is strongest and the most direct refutation to h6, let's try that line. Should it fizzle we could always look at the strong Bb5+ idea if you have time.

So in response, I play Qa5.

Bd2 is the obvious response here, but you understand very well I can not play against everybody, simultaneously...:)

might want to input that to SF for a longer think, until you are back.

I have yet to see white get ANY advantage in these lines, let alone "refuting" black's play.

If you make a big claim, be prepared to back it up.

Maybe we should abandon this informal game now, and then you and Mike might be able to engage in some careful analysis of the Winawer?

yeah, the game lost theoretical interest, but we can play a couple more moves, to see where it leads.

SF shuffled me into making some weak moves, not placing my pieces optimally, and consequently losing my advantage.

Rg8, Rc8, etc. by SF wre what I did not expect and, instead of improving my pieces, I started shuffling around too.

I expected resolving the tension with g6, g5, f6, early Nb6-c4, etc., where in a while white should get nice advantage, checked and rechecked by me, it always gets to at least +50cps white edge.

not resolving the tension is also good for white, if you place your pieces optimally and wait for the resolution, but not if you shuffle around, like I did.

I'm analysing this in IDeA and I also came up with this move, slightly (-0.10) preferring back.

can you read, man?

I already posted my replies to both, but you seem to read just your posts.

after Qa4, Qb1, while after Qa5 in the second line, Bd2
