On-line engine blitz tourney November

Post by hgm »

The monthly on-line engine blitz tourney for November will take place on:

Saturday November 19, 3pm Boston time (21:00 Amsterdam time)

(This assumes everyone is now off daylight-saving time.) To connect:

winboard -zp -ics -icshost winboard.nl -icshelper timeseal -fcp ENGINE.exe -fd ENGINEFOLDER -autoKibitz

(for UCI engines, add -fUCI)

On 22 October "Onderdelenupdate naar Windows 10, versie 1607"

Really great improvement.

What can I expect next Saturday.

@henk if you like you can do a pre-match against Embla? It is now on-line at HGM's system.

Henk, did you (try to) play against rpiArminius last night? I saw Skipper in my logfile, but not in the pgn file.

I tried to reconnect to the server. That failed with "Unable to connect to socket". Then I wanted to take a closer look on the logfile, but it was overwritten by icsdrone.

The server still seems to be down.

No against Embla. At the end of the game connection was broken.

It looks like the game did succeed:

Code: Select all

Wed Nov 16 23:04:17 2016:ERROR:Disconnected from ics.
Or does it? It is a bit unclear if icsdrone said mates because of the disconnect or because if the game ended.

The last position was:

Code: Select all

position startpos moves b1c3 b8c6 g1f3 b7b6 f3g5 e7e5 g5f3 d7d5 d2d4 e5d4 f3d4 c6d4 d1d4 g8f6 g2g3 f8c5 d4e5 e8f8 c1e3 d5d4 f1g2 d4e3 f2e3 f6g4 e5d5 d8d5 g2d5 a8b8 e3e4 b6b5 e1d2 b5b4 c3d1 f8g8 c2c3 b4c3 b2c3 c8d7 d2d3 b8e8 e2e3 d7b5 c3c4 g4e5 d3e2 b5a6 d1b2 c7c6 b2d3 e5d3 d5c6 e8d8 a2a4 d3e5 c6b5 a6c8 a4a5 c8g4 e2f1 d8d2 b5d7 g4f3 d7g4 c5e3 g4f3 e5f3 a1a2 d2a2 e4e5
which is, if I'm not mistaken: [d]6kr/p4ppp/8/P3P3/2P5/4bnP1/r6P/5K1R b - - 0 34

and then embla did:

Code: Select all

a2f2
so it looks like a win for embla! (but just barely)

Yes lost the game and then suddenly connection broken. Don't know why that happened.

Skipper going for last place Saturday. Unless I find a major improvement.

ATM the ICS doesn't seem to accept connections, when I try to login I get the message 'Connection closed by ICS'.
Maybe there is something wrong over here but FICS seems to work Ok.

I have added pawn hash since the last tournament. I was wondering what would be a good memory allocation ratio for hash/pawn_hash. Assuming hash and pawn hash use the same size of entry, would a ratio of 10:1 be good?
