I am a bit surprised...
I learned that what matters with tablebases is access time (milliseconds)
and not Read/Write speeds (MB/s).

So why is your choice dictated by those MB/s diagrams ???

My choice is based on transfer times and form factor. Where did you get the idea that it was based only on diagrams? I was providing data on the flash drive I chose to order. Did you not read my response to Rob Nicholas?

Oh well, never mind!...
I just wanted to stress that performance, for accessing tablebases, is obtained by small access time .
Quoting transfer times is irrelevant.

Access time can be measured with:

Code: Select all

sudo ioping -R /dev/sda2
replace /dev/sda2 with device path.
~$ sudo ioping -R /dev/sda2

--- /dev/sda2 (device 193.8 GiB) ioping statistics ---
21.4 k requests completed in 3.0 s, 8.1 k iops, 31.6 MiB/s
min/avg/max/mdev = 59 us / 123 us / 1.9 ms / 158 us

Well, 0.31 ms access time is very good for a flash drive !

Good choice (but not cheap !...)
