I'm trying to download the source code. Is there a tarball for it ? All I have is this link which is horribly impractical

My downloads contain the src code also. In the linux compile download I have altered the makefile a bit from the original so it would compile better for me.

It's the URL of a Subversion repository. You can use any Subversion client to download the repository contents using that URL. In case you are using Windows, I recommend using TortoiseSVN.

I don't use SVN. But I suppose I can do it the hacker way, with GNU wget ;)

Thank you Jim!

I'll start testing OctoChess in my Open Source Bullet rating list, once I've finished with Rodent 0.12, Faile 1.4 and Olithink 5.3.2. Watch my posts in the tournament forum for those interested.
