Hello everyone,
I am happy to confirm that no derivative/cloning accusation took place during CCT 14, but there was an accusation that a participant was not who he claimed to be.
Being that this happened in the past, I asked several authors to send me the binary that was used during the event. This allowed me to do several things:
1. Confirm with the sender's IP address with the one used to sign up for the event.
2. Confirm that the person was indeed using the program stated in the registration.
3. Verify the email address that the binaries were sent from compared to the one that was used to sign up for the event.
4. Not publically accuse anyone of anything.
5. Was able to hide who the intended accusee was, as to not damage anyone's reputation or cast doubt on the event.
I was able to confirm that the accusation was false on all levels.
My sincerest apologies to the authors whom I asked to send me binaries, but at the time it was the best method of detection I could come up with. I also thank those specific authors for respecting the rules and sending me code/binaries when requested. I specifically chose both commerical and non-commercial entries to send in their executables, as to weed out the potential "Who's cheating?" accusations during the event.
My goal was not to harm anyone's reputation while trying to figure this issue out, and I am happy to say everyone acted with the sportsmanship that I have come to expect from CCT participants.
All the binaries have been deleted from my system so there is no worry of them getting to anyone.
The matter is now closed.

Great to hear! |
Indeed! |
Gents, am I dreaming? Until now I didnt know that the comparison f registration IP and IP of the binary invoice would somehow allow to clarify if the source code is original.
What is if next week someone will send an experimental pre-version of say XYZ to Skinner. Could he begin another investigation? Who could control that the investigation is sober? What does Bob say? He has a 100x deeper undeerstanding of derivatives than anybody else. IMO. _________________ -Popper and Lakatos are good but I'm stuck on Leibowitz |
