Engines/GUI for Android?

Post by playjunior »

Does anyone know any GUI/engines for Android phones? Free is strongly preferred. Thanks!

The two that I've played a bit with (not much though) are both called "Chess". One is by Aart J.C. Bik and the other is Jeroen Carolus. You can of course find them in the Android Market. This latter one has both a free and paid version. The first one has a free version only from what I can tell.

The strongest I found a while back is "chessmaster". It does take a while to move at the higher levels though and is not master strength but maybe close. Guess, this depends on speed on android, so "chessmaster" will play stronger on newer phones. This is one of the reasons I went for the iphone after testing out the android.

You could try DroidFish. See http://web.comhem.se/petero2home/droidfish/index.html or download directly from Android market.

I use Droidfish on my Acer Liquid E 1, and it is quite good.

Only thing that bugs me is it completely locks up the device from time to time. (after about 20 games or so however)
