Yes the time losses will be fun.

1 time loss after 18 games, 14 : 4 for Ippolit.

Matthias.

It makes perfect sense not to give publicity to illegal clones, but the moderators here probably feel constrained by the charter. Sometimes decisions need to made outside the charter though, especially where common sense dictates.
If mention of Ippolit is deleted almost everywhere else, it seems irresponsible to allow it here. Just my opinion.
I disagree. We should not allow links or references to sites that provide programs that are clones. But to stop the discussions would really be _against_ the charter here since that kind of discussion is exactly what CCC was created for. Otherwise, where can one discussion clones and expose them or verify them?

Some go way overboard with censorship. The mentioned "quick trigger fingers" that delete posts as they appear is an example.

Trust me it is very bust. 1 game against Stockfish? Already?

:)

Wake up to a crash.....good idea.

Or why not run Rybka 3 instead and have no crash......?

I do not know but a possible reason may be that he does not have rybka3.

Just the one game, to see if it worked ok with polyglot & xboard, If my engine is this busted when completed, I will be very happy.

Not likely, see below.

I will give you a clue, Penguins.

You are making an engine? How far are you along with it? Sounds interesting.

i also disagree
the mere fact that other forums handle an issue one way does not
dictate how it should be handled here
we have a charter here and as far as i know there is not one other site on the net with a charter and elected mods
seems everyone bashes mods these days, even prior mods whom one would hope would know better given they have been through difficult decisions at times

prior mod teams have held the opinion that links to illegals engines are not permitted but discussion is allowed
we hold the same philosophy

It is a bit late to agree or disagree. Only 5000 views so far.

dictate how it should be handled here
Being obtuse for the sake of it is also a bad idea.
we have a charter here and as far as i know there is not one other site on the net with a charter and elected mods
Which in truth is why this place lacks continuity and consistency. This has nothing to do with the Charter. It has to do with what is best for this place. The Charter is not all encompassing and never will be. Every site I know has rules of conduct. The only difference is a word. Here you call forum rules.....a Charter.
seems everyone bashes mods these days, even prior mods whom one would hope would know better given they have been through difficult decisions at times
Do you feel bashed? I thought Graham was gently saying to you some facts.
prior mod teams have held the opinion that links to illegals engines are not permitted but discussion is allowed
So what is the point? Are you saying that Google does not exist?

And when they have renamed whatever they find, then what?

They come back here, that's what.

Will you know what it is when it arrives is the real question.

I don't quite get the logic Steve. Either you delete the lot or you let it all stay.

:)
