Most of the thread had nothing objectionable in it, but I don't have time to sort out the problem posts now. Later on, we may sort things out and repost some of the older messages.
Norman Schmidt did some things that were reprehensible. That does not give us licence to retaliate.
The old saying "Two wrongs don't make a right." applies in my view.
And there is an important distinction between:
1. Joe cloned engines and claimed that they were original which was reprehensible. {OK}
2. Joe is reprehensible. {not OK}
By the way, it is also possible for Joe to do things that are perfectly fine even if statement #1 is true. Others may have a distaste for all things that Joe does, but that does not necessarily make them wrong.
This is my opinion and my interpretation of the charter which reads:
"Once a member gains access to the message board, he may read all
messages and post new or response messages with the proviso that these
new or response messages:
1. Are, within reason, on the topic of computer chess
2. Are not abusive in nature
3. Do not contain personal and/or libelous attacks on others
4. Are not flagrant commercial exhortations
5. Are not of questionable legal status."
P.S.
Chris Whittington did a remarkably good job in its formulation, in my opinion.
P.P.S.
Sorry for my heavy handed treatment of this subject but I do not have time to give it the real attention that it deserves at the moment.

I've reported a bug, the bug was corrected today, perhaps this was one objectionable issue
BTW, where has been the thread moved? I would like to save a selection of the posts at my own choice.

Yes, sometimes there is needed an authoritarian act to teach some people that every man has the basic right to be called by his real name.
And there is an important distinction between:
1. Joe cloned engines and claimed that they were original which was reprehensible. {OK}
2. Joe is reprehensible. {not OK}
That:s it, except of the forenames you quote a central point of the whole discussion
By the way, it is also possible for Joe to do things that are perfectly fine even if statement #1 is true. Others may have a distaste for all things that Joe does, but that does not necessarily make them wrong.
Very good, then everybody can report tournaments in this forum with the participation of Cyclone engines.

The thread was moved to the moderation archive.
I do not know if ordinary posters can see that forum.
Likely, we will have to move back harmless branches.
If that happens, it won't be until later.
