Does your engine prefer to play Rh4? here instead of dxe4! which wins?

Very difficult position, Mc.
The only thing that seems rigth is that
dxe4 it´s a win for white, because after 1. dxe4 Qxh6 2. e5 mates
in 144(!) moves, acording Shredder endgame databases on line, but
engines don´t like to lost the pawn on h6.

I think that 1. Rh4 may be a drawn, but I am not 100% sure.

What a GM choose to play in this position? If they played 1. dxe4
can they win the game?

Are you sure dxe4 wins? Nalimov tablebases say yes, but they don't take the 50 move rule into consideration.

I never bothered to check that since there is a pawn on the board.

Infact dxe4 could well be drawn with the 50 move rule.

Time to amend that rule...again...sigh.

It is actually 114 moves but the pawn gets stuck on e6 for about 67 of those  so it is probably a draw by the 50 move rule afterall anyway. :(

I think it would make more sense to design tablebases that follow all the rules of the game rather than to modify the rules of the game to accommodate computers.

But what's the reason of the 50 move rule? Because they thought that 50 moves without pawn move or capture should mean no more progress and a draw. But they were wrong.

Of course, setting it longer is useless for humans, so I just say that we should have different rules for computers. If they say it's mate in 360 moves, let them play them.

Perhaps it should be changed to 70 moves instead inorder for me to save some face over this position.
